Adeline Oelke

Adeline Oelke, 92, of Stevensville, died at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph, on Friday, March 7, 2003. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2003, 2:00PM, at St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stevensville, with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may call on Sunday, March 9, 2003, from 4:00-6:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. You may leave a message of condolence, or sign the family guest book, at www.starks-menchinger.com Mrs. Oelke was born on August 31, 1910 in Jamke, Wolhynia to Adolf and Emilie (Hase) Pudel. She married Julius Oelke on July 21, 1929; he preceded her in death on September 22, 1988. Adeline came to this country in 1952 from Germany. She worked at Michigan Fruit Canners until her retirement in 1965. She was an avid gardener, and crafted wreaths from flowers from her gardens. Mrs. Oelke was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stevensville. Survivors include a son, Ernst (Helga) Oelke of Stevensville; two daughters, Alma Reynosa of Portland, Oregon, and Christina (Frank) Hoffman of Stevensville; three grandchildren, Kathy (Michael) Rimpel, Brian (Lucinda) Lenk, and Renee (Robert) Watson; five great grandchildren, Michelle, Aaron, Jessica and Micah Rimpel, and Hailey Watson; three brothers, Alfred (Lydia) Binder of Stevensville, Erich Binder of California, and Otto (Waldtraut) Binder of Tucson, Arizona; three sisters, Ida Werner, Linda Zielke and Ella (Fritz) Reinert, all of Germany. She is preceded by her parents and a brother-Karl Pudel, and a sister-Alma Lucius.
