Robert's Obituary

Robert L. Bryan, 84, of Benton Harbor, went to meet his Lord & Savior on Monday, October 21, 2002 at Community Hospital, Watervliet. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1927 Broadway, Benton Harbor, with Rev. Paul Naumann officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph with military rites conducted by Coloma American Legion #362, Hartford American Legion #93, VFW Post #1137-Benton Harbor, and VFW Post #6803-Watervliet. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Organ Fund. Those wishing to share a memory on line may do so at www.stark-menchinger.com. Mr. Bryan was born on November 28, 1917 in Goldthwaite, Texas to Lawson & Willie (Wilson) Bryan. Robert served his country in the US Army during WWII in the 985th Field Artillery Battalion. On February 3, 1946, he married the former Dorothy Ohme in South Haven, MI. Robert worked as a tile setter for Ohme Tile, retiring in 1982 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Mr. Bryan is survived by his wife Dorothy; two daughters-Jane (Shirley) Cottrell of Amboy, IN; Peggy (Tom) Young of Watervliet; his son-Donald (Lisa) Bryan of Coloma; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded by his parents, five brothers and two sisters
