Charles ?Dit? ?Pete? Wright, 84, of Sawyer died at his home, Monday, August 11, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 6-9pm, Wednesday, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2pm Thursday, with Bruce Tanner officiating, at the funeral home with burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service or St. Joseph Church of Christ. Friends wishing to send condolences may do so at the guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com Charles was born on April 23, 1919 in Hornersville, Missouri to Charles E. and Annie (Waldrop) Wright. On March 15, 1945 he married Hazel R. Rummage who preceded him in death on April 20, 1977. On April 8, 1984 he married Ewellene Keltner, the widow of Tony L. Keltner. During his life he worked for Whirlpool in plant 7 for 40 years until he retired in 1984. Charles loved being outside, puttering in his yard, golf, and was a man with endless energy. He is survived by his wife Ewellene of Sawyer, two sons ? Larry Wright, husband of Brenda of FL, Charles A. Wright, husband of Beth, of St. Joseph; four daughters ? Janie (Wright) Warman, wife of Ron, of Benton Harbor, Deborah (Keltner) Mabry wife of Jerry, of Bridgman, Saundra (Keltner) Morgan wife of Stan, of Benton Harbor, Leann (Keltner) VanDerPloeg wife of Keith, of Bridgman; ten grandchildren; two brothers ? Chester Wright, of FL, Eugene Wright, of AR; two sisters ? Maggie Puruis, of Benton Harbor, Sally Humes, of AR, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; a grandson Anthony Keltner; four brothers ? Lee, James, Mac and Russell; and two sisters ? Helen and Louise.
