Herman's Obituary
Herman Howard Bolinger, 76, of St. Joseph, passed into the
Hands of Christ, surrounded by his loved ones, Sunday, June
8, 2003, at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will
be held on Wednesday, June 11, 11:00AM, at the Lakeshore
Christian Church, 5665 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, Rev.
Jeff Oliver officiating. Burial following at Hickory Bluff
Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, June 10, from
3:00-5:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger
Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Lakeshore Christian Church

Mr. Bolinger was born March 16, 1927, in Otho, Ohio, to
William Franklin and Emma Francis (Kasler) Bolinger. He
was a graduate of Beverly High School, Beverly, OH. He
attended Marietta College in Marietta, OH, and graduated
from Bethany College in Bethany, WV, with degrees in
Religion & Philosophy. He also attended Christian
Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN. He was a Christian
Church-Disciples of Christ Minister in Proctor, WV,
Taylorstown, PA, New Palestine, IN, Shadyside, OH,
Wheeling Island, WV, Glen Easton, WV, and numerous
interim ministries. He was a current member of the Disciples
of Christ Church, St. Joseph and attended Lakeshore Christian
Church. Mr. Bolinger was a veteran of the United States
Navy, serving during WWII, and a member of the
Stevensville American Legion. He retired from American
Electric Power Company, Cook Nuclear Plant. Mr. Bolinger
enjoyed studying, reading the Bible and Christian
volunteering, as well as working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife Sarah Jane (Stollar), whom he
married on December 23, 1950, in Beverly, OH; three sons,
Herman Mark (Margaret) Bolinger of Martins Ferry, OH,
Martin (Donna) Bolinger of Kentwood, MI, and Victor (Jerri)
Bolinger of St. Joseph; a daughter, Terry Adler of Peachtree
City, GA; grandchildren, Kristin Bolinger, Heather Bolinger,
Shane Bolinger, Garrett Bolinger, Justin Bolinger, Rebecca
Bolinger, Jesse (Jess) Holston, Dana Bolinger, Todd James,
Karla James, Benjamin (Tiffany) Adler and Michael Adler;
great grandchildren, Collette Holston and Maxwell Holston;
brother, John Bolinger of FL; sister, Jean Woodburn of OH;
and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death
by his parents, and sisters Lucille Ward, Louise Ward and
Marianna Farnsworth.
