She was a gracious, generous, loving and wise mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Her
compassionate caring and love enveloped everyone who knew
her. Serving the Lord through her faith community, visiting
shut-ins with special bouquets of fresh flowers, and sending
cards weekly to those who were ill was a great joy and
privilege for her. She also found great joy and friendship in
her WCA Aqua Aerobics, Pins and Needles, and weekly
Bible study groups.
Mildred was a much-loved only child born to Edwin and
Evelyn (Schmuhl) Lundy on August 6, 1927. She graduated
from Benton Harbor High School in 1945, and attended Twin
City Business College and the University of Michigan. After
working for several years at Saranac and Univex Looseleaf
Corporations, she retired in 1997 from the Michigan
Department of Transportation.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Walter) Bennett of
Sodus; her son, John (Nancy) Neumann of Minnetonka,
Minnesota; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Dr. Scott) Saxe of
Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Cody (Lori) Bennett of St. Joseph,
Ann Neumann and Ellen Neumann of Minnetonka,
Minnesota; and two great-grandchildren, Walter and
Katherine Saxe.
