Christina's Obituary

Christina Marie Lakin, 18, of Coloma, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 2, 2002. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 6, at 1:00 PM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Mike Schoeplein officiating, cremation will follow the services. Friends may call on Thursday, December 5, from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Coloma High School Girls Athletic Program. Friends wishing to sign the guestbook on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Christina was born in Berrien Center, MI on July 9, 1984. She was currently a senior at Coloma High School, where she was a member of the Honor Society, a member of the Girls Varsity Basketball team and also lettered in Track. She was a member of the Road Youth, and for the last two years worked at the Harding?s Grocery Store in Coloma. Amongst her goals was looking towards graduation, then attending university where she planned on pursuing a law degree in hopes to advocate children?s rights. Eventually she hoped to attain the ranks of a judge. Christina was known as being very giving and selfless, one who would give her friends and family any and everything she possibly could. She was also a passionate Notre Dame fan. Christina will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her mother, Tabitha (Howard) Baker of Galien; her foster parents, Tammy and John Minor of Coloma; sisters, Joann Baker and Janet Shook; brothers, Brian Chastain, Austin and Justin Minor, & Howie and James Baker; maternal grandparents, Charles and Sarah Henry of Berrien Springs; 18 nieces and nephews; and her fianc?e Camilo Tavarez Ayriaga.
