Gerald's Obituary
Gerald’s life began on October 15, 1941 in Dowagiac, the son of Virgil and Angela (Ptaszkiewicz) Smith.He is a graduate of Dowagiac Central High School and was employed by Jessco and Ameriwood Industries. Gerald was a member of the Dowagiac Moose Lodge. His loving family includes his daughter Sheri McElheny of Cassopolis, and son Jerry (Stevi) Smith of Dowagiac, grandchildren Holly and Brandee Smith and Ashley and Amanda McElheny, great grandchildren Justin Jensen and Emmaleigh Vernon, sisters Patricia (Ollie) Shaer of Dowagiac, and Kathy (Roger) Williamson of Arkansas, brothers Richard (Doris) Smith of Dowagiac, and Don Smith of Dowagiac and several nieces and nephews. Gerald passed away at his home on Thursday July 5, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings Marilyn Wilson and Robert Smith. His family will gather with friends for a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Yazel & Clark Chapel led by Pastor Jon DenHouter.
