Harry's Obituary

Harry Sauer, 64, of Benton Harbor, died peacefully Thursday, August 29, 2002, at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, Colfax & Kline-Benton Harbor, MI, with Rev. Paul S. Naumann officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, of which he was a member of, or the American Heart Association. Friends wishing to share a memory on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Sauer was born on March 3, 1938 in Volhynia, Poland to Erich and Martha (Varkojis) Sauer. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. On June 20, 1992 he married the former Judith Foster in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Harry was Owner and operator of Riverside Tool & Die, in Riverside and retired in March 2000. Harry enjoyed soccer and was a member of the St. Joe Kicker?s Club since 1957. Harry is survived by his wife Judith; his daughter Emily (Will) Callari, of Springlake, N.J.; Step daughter Brenda (Lane) Rochester of Seneca, S.C.; Step sons- Ronald Blurton of Benton Harbor, Bryon (Sarah) Blurton of St. Joseph, Christopher (Susan) Brown of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren- Kayla Blurton of Benton Harbor, Nicholas and Brittany Bowser, of Seneca; Lane, Abigail, and Benjamin Rochester of Seneca; brothers-Helmut (Gisela) Sauer of Seabrook, N.H. and Heinz (Anne) Sauer of Germany. He was preceded in death by his father Erich.
