Elizabeth's Obituary
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter,
Elizabeth White, 63, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, Aug.
16, 2002, surrounded by her loving family.
Betsy was born Aug. 17, 1938, to Lester and Elsie Glossinger.
She grew up in St. Joseph and was a fun loving and
mischievous big sister to her brother, Michael. Betsy was a
cheerleader in school and hosted many parties and dances,
where she met her husband, William White.
Betsy and Bill married on Sept 6, 1958. They raised four
beautiful daughters, Kathy (Doug) Harbert, Laura, Mary, and
Karen (David) Rutkowski. In addition to caring for her girls,
Betsy gave her time and her care to many in the community.
She coached tennis and cheerleading at Lake Michigan
Catholic High School, and played a sharp game of tennis
herself. Betsy was also blessed with the friendship and
constant love of her two grandsons, Michael and Alexander
Harbert, whom she spoiled as often as she could and who
spoiled her with love.
Betsy lived her life with a thirst for knowledge, and
thoroughly researched and read about everything that
interested her. She enjoyed traveling, seeing new people, new
places and making new friends. When she was no longer able
to travel herself, she traveled the world on the Internet,
making new friends around the world.
Betsy is survived by the lives she touched – her parents, her
husband, her daughters, her sons-in-law, and her grandsons.
Friends may attend a visitation between 6 and 8 p.m. on
Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral

will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St.
Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Memorials may be
