Dorothy Marie Thomas

Dorothy Marie Thomas, 81, of Covert, formerly of Benton Harbor, died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Bill McKay of Faith Covenant Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Mrs. Thomas was born in July 22, 1921 in Coloma to George & Dorothy (Replogle) Hartman. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1939. On March 4, 1949 she married Henry ?Hank? Thomas in Benton Harbor. Dorothy was an avid bingo player. Dorothy is survived by her son-Bill (Barbara) Fredericks of Benton Harbor; three daughters-Mary Lee (Gene) Wachter of Orlando, FL; Donna (Al) Lugers of Holland, MI; Susan (John) Rendell of Covert; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Kathleen Hartman of St. Joseph; a niece-Jane Hartman of St. Joseph; a nephew-Patrick Hartman of Vicksburg, MI; and dear friends-Ray & Jeanetta Berry of Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hank on May 10, 1973; and a brother-Robert Hartman in 1986.
