Eldonna's Obituary

Eldonna Hendrix, 74, of Stevensville, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Tamara Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or Caretel Inns of Royalton. Friends wishing to share a memory on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Hendrix was born on March 15, 1928 in Stevensville to Alfred & Esther (Domke) Dehring. She was employed as a secretary for many years at Stevensville High School from which she graduated in 1945. On April 10, 1948 she married Harold Hendrix in St. Joseph. Eldonna was a Charter & Life Member of Stevensville American Legion Auxiliary, Past 4th District President of the Auxiliary, a member of the Honor Society of the American Legion Auxiliary, North Berrien & Cass County 8/40, Past Chapeau of 8/40, and was elected to the Southwestern Michigan Women?s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Eldonna was a cat lover and an avid golfer, bowler and Cubs Fan. Mrs. Hendrix is survived by three daughters-Nancy (Marc) Jeffery of Stevensville, Diana (Gerald) Nash of Baroda, Melanee (Steve) Mangold of Stevensville; five grandchildren-Pam (Matt) Sexton, David (Nicole) Nash, Randy Jeffery, Melissa & Tiffany Mangold; four great-grandchildren-Rachel & David Sexton, Samantha & Wyatt Nash; a brother-Darwin Dehring of Sodus; and many nieces & nephews. Eldonna was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Harold on July 18, 1990.
