Richard Eugene Gedert, 72, of St. Joseph, died on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Lakeland Hospital. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, 11:30AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Father Larry Kroll officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, from 4:00-8:00PM, with a Rosary at 7:30pm at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. We invite you to send a condolence message in the family Guestbook at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Gedert was born on March 11, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Josephine (Mercurio) Gedert. He graduated from Notre Dame University in 1953 with a Degree in Accounting. He was a Cost Accountant at Whirlpool, and retired in 1992, after 36 years of employment. On September 6, 1952 he married Patricia Andrews in Clyde, Ohio. Richard was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and bird watching and was active with Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Gedert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Gedert; four sons ? Richard E. (Pat) Gedert, Jr., of New Buffalo, MI, Stephen (Susan) Gedert, of Dearborn, MI, James (Jenny) Gedert, of St. Joseph, Robert (Pam) Gedert, of Muskegon, MI; three daughters ? Theresa (Greg) Schreiber, of Reynoldsburg, OH, Mary (John) Nigro, of Romeo, MI, Christine (Brent) Moulds, of St. Joseph; eleven grandchildren ? Shawn, Kimberly, Donald, Emily, Gregory, Jack, Maxwell, Katherine, Amanda, Evan and Mason; brother Dr. Robert (Maureen) Gedert, of Port Clinton, OH, sister-in-law Ruth Gedert of Clyde, OH, and mother-in-law ?Mother? Andrews of Oak Harbor, OH.
