Walter's Obituary

Walter Brandt, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away on May 26, 2002, at his home with his loved ones by his side. Visitation will be held at 7 to 9p.m. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2p.m. Thursday, at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Dr., St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Friends are invited to send condolence messages to the guestbook at www.starks-menchinger.com Walter was born on March 29, 1922 in Puchawa, Poland to Johann & Juliane (Reiter) Brandt. He moved to this area in 1951 and met Ruth Heinrich whom he married on October 18, 1952, in St. Joseph. He worked for many years at Wesner Brothers Car dealership, where he was a master Mechanic until he retired in 1985. His favorite hobbies were fishing and barbecuing outside. Survivors his wife Ruth, three daughters- Rosemary (Heinz) Schuett of Ann Arbor, Alice Brandt of St. Joseph, Evelyn (Mark) Boff of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren -Amber Schuett, Ryan Schuett, Nick Boff, Zack Boff and Caitlyn Kitron; a brother, Ethan (Erna) Brandt of St. Joseph, Two sisters- Lilli (Siegfried) Zielke of St. Joseph and Erna Jobs of Germany. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Brandt, in 2001; his parents; a sister Adina Muenzer. Walter was a person who loved to help people and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
