Charles R. Shine, 85 of St. Joseph, died Wednesday December 4, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital -St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 5:00- 8:00 PM Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, at Riverside United Methodist Church, with burial following at North Shore Memory Garden. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 4401 Fikes Rd, Riverside, MI, were he was a member. Friends wishing to send a condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. He was born on December 19, 1916 in Bangor, Michigan to Jesse & Sarah (Woods) Shine. He graduated from Western Michigan College and served his country in during WWII in the Army. He worked at Heath Co. until he retired in 1982 as the Head Component Engineer. Some of his hobbies were ham radio operator, sailing, singing in the Barber Shop Quartet and singing in Four Sharp Band. Survived by a son William Shine (Mary) of St. Joseph, a daughter Sara Orellana (Carlos) of Miami FL; a step son James Ashbrook (Lois) of Bridgman, 2 step ?daughters Beverly Hirsch (Henry) of St. Joseph, Patty Effa (Kevin) of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren, Mary Shine Huffman (Mark), Wm Benjamin Shine (Jody), Molly Shine Cypher (Craig), Jacob Shine, Matthew Shine, Joel Shine, Kathryne Shine, Breanne Shine, Joshua Orellana, 13 step grandchildren, 5 great grandsons, Jeffrey, Holden & Grant Huffman, Killian & Liam Shine. Preceded in death by his 1st wife Nola in 1987 and 2nd wife Lucille in 2000, and step-daughter Jean Edgell.
