Russell's Obituary
Russell W. Humes, 58, of Benton Harbor, passed away
Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at his residence. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at St.
John?s Catholic Church, Benton Harbor with Rev. Larry Kroll
officiating. Cremation will follow services. Friends may call
on Thursday from 6-9 PM at Starks & Menchinger Family
Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may
be made to Hospice at Home, Stevensville, MI. Those

Mr. Humes was born on March 30, 1944 in Benton Harbor,
MI to Delbert & Jennie (Damico) Humes. He graduated from
St. John?s High School in 1962, and was employed by the
Benton Harbor area schools as a heating engineer for 26
years. On October 22, 1966, in Coloma, MI, he married
Margo Lynne Willmeng. He was a loving and devoted
husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed greatly.
Russell was very involved with many sports. He coached
Benton Harbor Rocket football & Fairplain baseball and
softball teams. He also coached Lake Michigan Catholic
Junior Varsity football, and also coached with his son Scott in
Lakeshore Rocket football and baseball. Mr. Humes was also
a strong supporter of Lakeshore Freestyle Wrestling.
Mr. Humes is survived by his wife Margo; three sons-Scott
(Dana) Humes of Stevensville, MI, Brian (Michelle) Humes
of St. Joseph, MI, and Marc Humes of St. Joseph, MI: a
daughter Tami (Tony) Gage of Benton Harbor, MI; two
brothers- Ray (Sharon) Humes of Niles, MI, and Ken (Marla)
Humes of Stevensville, MI; two sisters-Brenda Wilson of
Wayland, MI, and Jan Angelo of Benton Harbor, MI; four
grandchildren-Michael, Tyler & Nicholas Humes and Justin
Gage, and an expected grandson in August. Several cousins,
nephews and nieces also survive. He was preceded in death
by his parents.
