John Adam Enders Sr.
BENTON HARBOR — John Adam Enders Sr., 74, formerly
of Benton Harbor and Fountain, Mich., passed away Saturday,
Feb. 1, 2003, at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Mich.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at
the First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with
Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Military Rites will be
conducted by Coloma American Legion Post 362, Hartford
American Legion Post 93, VFW Post 1137 of Benton Harbor
and VFW Post 6803 of Watervliet. Cremation will follow the
service with burial of ashes in Millburg Cemetery. Friends
may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger
Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph.
Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God.

Mr. Enders, also known as “The Dutchman” was born on
Sept. 26, 1928, in Benton Harbor to Donald and Crystal
(Tyler) Enders. John served and was honorably discharged
from the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as a
truck driver for Leco Corp. from 1973-1990, and by Mason
County Fruit Packers from 1990-1999. John was a member of
the First Assembly of God where he formerly was a Sunday
school teacher and a member of the choir. He was an avid
outdoorsman, a trait which he passed on to his family.
Mr. Enders is survived by his children — John A. “Bump”
(Nancy) Enders Jr. of Sodus, Jody (Joe) Rutherford of Walnut
Cove, N.C., Michael A. (Lori) Enders of Benton Harbor,
Jeffery R. (Mary Sue) Enders of Coloma, Timothy (Julie)
Enders of Monument, Colo., Tamara (Mark) Hamelink of
Effingham, S.C.; his wife of 42 years, Barbara Enders; 15
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers — Paul
(Fran) Enders of South Haven and Ken (Karen) Enders of
Muskegon, Mich.; and one sister, Eleanor (Gene) Tanke of
Pinconning, Mich.
John was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter
in 1949; and a brother, Donald Enders.
