Tom Posey

AT&T Alascom President, Tom Posey, 44, died suddenly March 1, 2002 at Alaska Regional Hospital from an aneurysm. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, March 6 at 6 pm at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art. All friends and associates are welcome. Tom was born July 19, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee and had loved and lived in Anchorage since 1998. He graduated from University of Tennessee and received his MBA from the University of Illinois. Tom was especially proud of his professional management degree from Harvard Business School completed in November 2000. Hw was highly committed and actively involved in civic, charity and volunteer programs across the State including, March of Dines, Walk America, Anchorage Symphony Board, State of Alaska Telehealth Advisory Commission, Honorary Chair Armed Services YMCA annual Salute to the military, Special Olympics World Games, United Way Board member, Calista Corporation Scholarship committee to name a few. The death of the relatively young man with an active outdoor lifestyle stunned the people who knew him. He touched a lot of lives and each and every one is better for having met Tom Posey. A great husband and dad, Tom had a million-dollar smile for everyone. His warm and winning personality opened doors to friendships wherever he went. He was a great family man and lived by the credo, ?life?s a journey and should be lived to the fullest.? He did. Although he accomplished many things in his young life, the thing he was most proud of was his family. He and his wife Kristin had a wonderful and enviable love affair. They were partners in everything they did including raising two wonderful children, Sam and Sally. The family said, ? His family and friends will miss him tremendously and life will not be the same without him?although Tom?s spark will live on forever.? Tom leaves behind his wonderful wife Kristin, son Sam, 12 and daughter Sally 9 of Anchorage, his mother Imogene Posey and husband Fred Humphrey of Knoxville, Tennessee, brother Robert Posey and finance Patricia Habjouqa of Plano, TX. His father, John Posey, preceded him in death. Kristin Posey is the daughter of Bill and Patt Johnson of St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for his children, Sam and Sally.
