Anna's Obituary
Anna E. Hein, 73, of Benton Harbor, went to be with her Lord
& Saviour Jesus Christ on April 11, 2002 at Lakeland
Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be
held at 11:30 A.M. Monday with Rev. Paul Naumann & Vicar
Michael Carr officiating at St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church,
Benton Harbor. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs
Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4PM & 6-8
PM at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650
Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St.
Matthew?s Lutheran Church or the Berrien County Cancer
Service.
Anna was born on January 26, 1929 in Chicago to H. &
Johanna Peck. As a child, her family moved to North
Hollywood, CA; then as a teenager they returned to Benton
Harbor. She was a member of St. Matthew?s Lutheran
Church where she was baptized & confirmed. On June 3,
1950 she married Herbert Hein at St. Matthew?s. Last year
they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hein
was formerly employed by Remington Rand Corp. and retired
from Gast Manufacturing Inc. after 21 years where she had
been employed as secretary of international sales. Anna was
very active in her church and community. She served as a
member of the Church Choir for many years and the Ladies
Aid Society of which she was treasurer for 10 years. For
many years she volunteered in the Church & Elementary
School Offices. Anna was a volunteer for Red Cross Blood
drives, was bookkeeper for the Twin City Cameral Club
Travel & Adventure Series for 30 years, and was the
secretary for the Leica Camera Club of Kalamazoo and the
Benton Harbor Lianas Club. Anna was no stranger to music.
She was an accomplished musician on piano, organ and in
voice. She was a graduate of Broadview Academy, at
Broadview, IL and attended Lake Michigan College.
Mrs. Hein is survived by her husband Herbert E. Hein, and
many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents and two sisters.
