Laura's Obituary
Laura E. Tibboles, 89, loving mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother, of St. Joseph, formerly of Bellevue, OH,
died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, February 21,
2002 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life
Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday at Starks &
Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph
with Rev. Kent Meyer, Ph.D. and Rev. Debra Meyer
officiating. Friends may call from 2- 4 PM prior to the
service. Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. United Church
of Christ, St. Joseph. Additional visitation will be held at
Auxter-Groff Funeral Home in Bellevue, OH. From 3-5 PM
on Sunday. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00
AM on Monday at the First United Methodist Church in
Bellevue. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
Mrs. Tibboles was born on February 10, 1913 in Bellevue,
Ohio to William & Anna (Farley) Gallup. On February 21,
1941 she married Alexander Tibboles in Bellevue. Laura
served as the secretary at First United Methodist Church in
Bellevue for many years and also served on the election board
for the City of Bellevue. She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Bellevue, attended the Zion Ev.
United Church of Christ in St. Joseph where she was also a
part of the Zion Women?s Group. Laura volunteered at the
Soup Kitchen in Benton Harbor and Lakeland Hospital in St.
Joseph.
Mrs. Tibboles is survived by her son-Charles (Sheryl)
Tibboles of Bellevue; her daughter-Joyce (Ambrose ?Buzz?)
Ochs of St. Joseph; her daughter-in-law-Betty Tibboles of
Fort Myers, FL; three grandchildren-Damon Tibboles, Shana
(Shawn) Hemenway both of Bellevue; and Erin Ochs of St.
Joseph; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-Winifred
(Fred) Miller of Bellingham, WA. She was preceded in death
by her husband Alexander on August 31, 1966, her son
Alexander William Tibboles on May 10, 2001, a brother
Gorden Gallup, and three sisters-Anna Gallup, Marian
Dennis, and Helen Dobbin.
