Harold's Obituary

Harold Freier, 75, formerly of Benton Harbor, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home both of Stevensville. Mr. Freier was born on February 10, 1927 in Coloma Township to Fredrick & Millie (Friesen) Freier. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Harold was a math & science teacher at Benton Harbor High School, with the Bangor Schools, and in Liberia, Africa, Gwam, and Palau. He traveled the world extensively visiting many countries throughout. Harold is survived by three brothers-Elmer (Margaret) Freier of Stevensville; Arthur (Norma) Freier of Barrington, IL; Eugene (Ruth) Freier of Ormond Beach, FL; three sisters-Elvera Freier of Benton Harbor; Ruth (Howard) Chesher of Sun City West, AZ; Loretta (Rex) Turner of Dowagiac; and 17 nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-Irving Freier, and a sister-Lillian Grahn.
