Wayne's Obituary
Wayne L. Jonatzke, 90, of Stevensville, died Wednesday,
January 2, 2002 at home. Funeral Services celebrating his life
will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2002 at Starks &
Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St.
Joseph with Rev. Jeff Oliver of Lakeshore Christian Church
officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Stevensville
American Legion #568. Friends may call at the funeral home
beginning at noon on Saturday. Cremation will follow the
services. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Christian
Church or Stevensville American Legion #568.
Mr. Jonatzke was born on April 13, 1911 in St. Joseph to
Charles & Laura (Spear) Jonatzke. He served his country in
the United States Army during WWII. On May 22, 1953 he
married the former Laura L. Lowder in Benton Harbor. He
was formerly employed by Heath Company, Industrial
Crating, & Harbor Plating, all of Benton Harbor. Wayne was
a member of the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Citizens Center,
Evangelical Church of St. Joseph, and a member of
Stevensville American Legion #568 for the last 58 years.
Mr. Jonatzke is survived by his wife Laura Jonatzke; a son
Ken (Lyn) Jonatzke of Portage, MI; two grandson-Kevin &
Keith Jonatzke; two step-grandchildren Brian McGehee &
Lisa McGehee; one step great grandson-Matthew McGehee;
and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a
great granddaughter-Keylee Jonatzke in 1993
