Ruth E. Baker

Ruth’s life began on August 3, 1942 in Niles, Michigan the daughter of Ivan and Icle (Rowe) Shively. Ruth loved to maintain her water garden and landscaping around her home. She also enjoyed feeding her coi fish and the birds. She was a very faithful member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. Her loving family includes her children, Renee (Jim) Zelenka of West Olive, Kevin (Tara) Baker of Dowagiac, Ryan (Leslie) Baker of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Doug, Tom and Joe Zelenka, Courtney Bellis, Nicholas and Luke Baker, Ivan, Blake and Shane Baker; brother, Don (Betty) Shively of Jones, MI; nieces and nephews, Linda, Mike, Scott, Tonya, Bryon and Mark. Ruth passed away on May 31, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice House in Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Evelyn Smith. At Ruth’s request, private services will be held. Burial will be in Sumnerville Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
