Marilyn's Obituary
Marilyn Jean (Peterson) Freudenburg, 54, of Benton Harbor,
passed away at her home on Monday, March 4, 2002
surrounded by her loving family. A service celebrating her
life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran
Church, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore
Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Wednesday
at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles
Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran
Church or Hospice at Home.
Marilyn was born on September 9, 1947 in Benton Harbor to
Maynard & Emma (Schmidt) Peterson. She was raised in St.
Joseph, attended Trinity Lutheran School & graduated from
St. Joseph High School. She continued her education at Ferris
State College where she earned her degree in Cosmetology.
Marilyn operated a hair salon out of her home for many years.
Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St.
Joseph for her entire life. She had been diagnosed with
cancer only a few months ago. She was a very loving and
nurturing person placing herself second to everyone else. She
loved spending time with her family & friends, whether it was
at the beach, traveling, gardening, camping, volunteering at
church or a quiet evening at home.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Marc Freudenburg
whom she married June 29, 1986 in St. Joseph; her mother
Emma Peterson of Fairplain, sister Cheryl (Ivan) Quandt of
Wallingford, PA, sister-in-law Carol Peterson, of Rising Sun,
IN, sister Margaret (Mike) Pecoraro of Riverside; son Scott
Bachman of Nashville, TN, daughter Amy Bachman of
Round Lake, IL, step daughter Tricia Smith of Benton
Harbor, step daughter Jodi (Larry) Davis of Coloma; four
grandchildren-Kirstin, Devin, Rachael, & Teahgan; several
nieces, nephews and their children. She was preceded in
death by her brother Donald Peterson in 1969 and her father
Maynard Peterson in 1998.
Mommy, you will be dearly missed by all of your family and
friends but I know God has taken you to a better place.
