Kenneth R. Hoge

Kenneth R. Hoge, Sr., 61, of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. with Rev. Robert Confer of the First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Batchelor Cemetery, Fountain, Michigan. Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service. Mr. Hoge was born on October 9, 1940 in Baroda to Paul & Bertha (Lucker) Hoge. He was employed as a carpenter foreman, first with Holland Construction then with Fiskars Construction for a combined total of 40 years retiring in 1998. On June 26, 1977 he married the former Jean Phillipi in Baroda. Ken was a member of the Carpenter?s Union Local #525, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife Jean, Ken is survived by his daughter Denise Hoge of St. Joseph; two brothers-Raymond (Lela) Hoge of Baroda, William (Marcina) Hoge of Berrien Springs; seven sisters;Caroline Stark of Niles, Dorothy (Fred) Warsco of Coldwater, MI, Ruth (Robert) Caldwell of Benton Harbor, Jean Dietrich of Garden Grove, CT, Donna Shepherd of Baroda, Bert (Jerry) Mitchell of Stevensville, Barbara (Ivan) Layman of Eau Claire, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his son Kenneth R. Hoge, Jr. on October 18, 1997; his parents; and nine brothers & sisters.
