Sigfried's Obituary

Sigfried C. Czirr, 77 of St. Joseph; gently and quietly went to be with his Lord on Monday morning March 4,2002 at his home on Susan Dr.. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday at The First Church of God Church, 2627 Niles Ave. St. Joseph, where he was a member. Rev. Robert Confer will be the officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 ? 8:00pm Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery where there will be military rites conducted by Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Memorials may be made to First Church of God. Sigfried was born on May 9, 1924 to Carl & Erna (Adam) Czirr in Pommarn Germany. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School. He served in the United State Army European Theater during WWII and United States Air Force in Japan during The Koran war. On July 18,1953 he married Frances M. Shafer in Baroda Michigan. During his life he was a carpenter and cabinetmaker and he retired in 1989 from Benton Harbor Engineering. He was a die-hard St. Joseph High School fan and a University of Michigan Fan. He also enjoyed helping his children with projects around their homes and advising then in the later years on how projects should be done. He is survived by his wife Frances,sons James Czirr of Sandpoint, ID, George (Lois) Czirr of Kalamazoo, MI, Pastor Carl (Brenda) Czirr of Brooklyn, OH; a daughter Kay (Jordan) Wing of Elgin, TX; 11 grandchildren, three sisters; Elsie Johns of Benton Harbor, Halla (George) Ball of Stevensville, Irene (Walt) Riemland of St. Joseph. He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Lindsy Wing
