Benton Harbor ? Louis M. Edwards Sr., 47, of Benton Harbor, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, February 1, at Brotherhood Church of God in Christ, 516 Emery, Benton Harbor. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 12 p.m., with Rev. James Atterberry officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family at 828 Pitkins Ave. Benton Harbor. Mr. Edwards was born in Santa Monica, California, on August 11, 1954 to Leonard and Hettie (Johnson) Edwards. He graduated from Venice High School in 1972 and attended Santa Monica College. Louis was an employee of Sandvik Steel for 11 years where he worked as a Slitter Machine Operator. In 1979 Louis and Josephine Mae Powell married in Benton Harbor, MI. Louis is survived by his wife Josephine; son Fredrick Lamar Edwards of Benton Harbor; daughter Sonte Montique Powell of Benton Harbor; son Louis Edwards Jr. of Kalamazoo; two grandsons, Elijah Watson of Benton Harbor and Darius Watson of Benton Harbor; five sisters; Theresa Isaiah of Rialto, California; Lesley McCowen of Venice, California; Alfreda Dukes of Bakersfield, California; Debra Taylor of Bakersfield, California; Sheryl Carter-Flemons of Bakersfield, California. His parents Leonard & Hettie Edwards preceded him in death.
