Evelyn L. Sherwood

Evelyn Sherwood, 88, of South Haven, formerly of Benton Harbor, died Tuesday, April 09, 2002 at South Haven Health Care Centre. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fairplain Assembly of God. Mrs. Sherwood was born in Benton Harbor on December 9, 1913 to Henry & Olga (Miezler) Hirsch. On September 26, 1936 she married Raymond Sherwood in South Bend, Indiana. She was formerly employed by Crystal Springs Florists and J.C. Penney. Evelyn was an avid gardner and a member of Fairplain Assembly of God. Mrs. Sherwood is survived by her son- Gary (Barb) Sherwood of Watervliet; a daughter-in-law-Nancy Sherwood of St. Joseph; grandchildren-Mike & Scott Sherwood, Cyndi Kaagan, Dawn & Ami Sherwood; great grandsons-Cole & Koby Sherwood; brothers-Edward Hirsch of Florida, Henry (Bev) Hirsch of St. Joseph, sisters-Lydia (Sam) Bruder of Temecula, CA, Martha Schultz of Dowagiac, and Carrie (Otto) Seraphin of Woodbine, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on July 28, 1994, her son Donald on December 28, 1999, and two brothers-Theodore Hirsch in 1944 and Erven Hirsch in 2001.
