Leroy Selent

Leroy ?Lee? Selent, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away on July 29, 2004, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. There will be a visitation on Saturday morning, July 31, 2004, from 10:00 to 12:00 at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Private family services have been arranged. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer?s Research at the University of Michigan. Lee was born to Edward and Elsie (Mischke) Selent on March 19, 1924, in St. Joseph. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942; from there he attended the University of Michigan and received a B.A. in Business. Lee married June Heppler on February 23, 1946 in Ann Arbor. They were married for 50 years until she preceded him in death. Lee was later employed by Whirlpool Corporation for many years. Lee enjoyed golfing and served on the St. Joseph City Board of Commission for several years. Lee also served in WWII. Lee is survived by his children, Julee (David) Gast of Elmhurst, Illinois and Kimberly Selent of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Mackenzie and John Gast both of Elmhurst; two brothers, Arthur Selent of Ann Arbor and Les (Alice) Selent of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Beverly Selent of St. Joseph and Jeanette Catania of Baroda. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
