Thomas R. Schadler, 62,of Charlestown Dr. in Stevensville,
died Monday evening, March 11,2002 at Lakeland Hospital ?
St. Joseph.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 ? 8:00 PM Thursday, March
14th, 2002 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home,
2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service
will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 15th, 2002, at Lake
Michigan Christian Center, 9955 Church St, Bridgman, MI.
with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will follow in
Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lake
Michigan Christian Center where he was a member of the
church board and Sr. Usher.
Tom was born on March 5,1940 to Marvin ?Red? & Jane
(Farnum) Schadler in St. Joseph, MI. He graduated from St.
Joseph High School. On September 8, 1959 he married Ruth
Anderson at the Methodist Church in St. Joseph.
Tom began his law enforcement career in 1970 as a patrolman
for the city of Benton Harbor and was the youngest officer
ever to be promoted to the rank of detective. He was given
the honor of being named Police Officer of the year in 1977.
He then joined the Berrien County Prosecutor?s Office in1979
and became Chief Investigator in 1981, serving the
community in this role until he retired on January 11,2002.
He was past president of Chief investigators of Michigan and
owned Schadler Consulting Inc. a corporate consulting firm
serving fortune 500 clients. He also served on the St. Joseph
Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Tom is survived by his wife Ruth, two daughters Julie (Greg)
Chun of Lake Orion, MI, Sandy (Chad) Hafer of Clarkston,
MI; Two Sons Bryan Schadler of Stevensville, Jeff Schadler
of Chicago, IL; Five grandchildren Chase, Arianna, Andrew,
Stephanie, Jonathon; one sister Linda Schadler of St. Joseph,
and one brother Bruce (Jan) Schadler of St. Joseph. His
parents preceded him in death.
