Evelyene Schmeltz, 61, of Dowagiac, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles, MI.Evelyene’s life began on September 30, 1950 in Harland, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Opal Gorman and Conley Taylor both whom have preceded her in death. She made her home in Dowagiac 25 years ago. She was employed by L.A.D.D. Inc. for over 15 years where she did what she loved, touching and loving others. She was loved by many people and she shared her love with everyone. Evelyene was able to just make a difference in everyone’s life. The greatest comfort for her family in this difficult time was knowing how much she loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and they now know she lives peacefully with him. Here loving family includes her husband, Robert J. Schmeltz of Dowagiac; two daughters, Sheila K. Williams and Deborah J. Robles both of Dowagiac. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Ronnie Taylor of Bellefontaine, OH, Jimmy Allen of VA; sister, Carol Allen of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Shannon Green, Amber Williams, Micheal Robles of Niles, Jaqualine Robles, Jody Robles, Kevin Robles all of Dowagiac, Alex Robles of TN, 23 great grandchildren all whom she loved very much and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will be receiving friends at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church on Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with the funeral for Evelyene starting at 6:00 PM. Evelyene will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Immediately following the services there will be a dinner held at the church. Yazel & Clark Chapel is serving the family.
