Mary ?Mame? Hall, 95, formally of Benton Harbor, died January 21, 2002 at Teresa?s Harvest Home
in Berrien Springs, Michigan
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650
Niles Road, St. Joseph. Officiating the service will be Rev. Wade Panse of the First United Methodist
Church, where she was a member. Visitation will be from 4:00 ? 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral
home and burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Cancer
Society.
Mary was born on September 3, 1906, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to H. Lester and Carrie (Gassaway)
Fernum. She married Rollie F. Hall on September 17, 1950 in St. Joseph, Michigan.
She worked at the Farmer & Merchant Bank as a bank check exchanger until she retired. For many
years she was active in Peace Temple United Methodist church and a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star Colonial Chapter 319 of Benton Harbor.
Survivors are two step daughters – Margaret Petersen of Virginia and Ruth Beckman of Michigan; two
nephews – Tom and Bruce Schadler; one niece Linda Schadler; five grandchildren; six great
grandchildren; one brother Eugene Farnum.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Louise Griffendorf, and Jane Schadler; and
two brothers Robert and Theodore Farnum.
For those of us who loved her, Mame will be missed for her gentile demeanor and outrageous wit.
