Ivy E. Schmiedeknecht

Ivy’s life began on June 7, 1948 in Benton Harbor, the daughter of Walter and Madelyn Schaub. She had been employed at Pawating Hospital in Niles and Berrien General Hospital in Berrien Center. Ivy was a member of the Eau Claire Community Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her companion of 27 years Otis Forkner of Eau Claire, son Ryan Schmiedeknecht of South Bend, step mother Joyce Tracy of Lebanon, MO, grandson Ryan Schmiedeknecht, Jr. of South Bend, sister Kelly Nelson of Lebanon, MO, brother Walter (Kathryn) Schaub of Stevensville, Carl (Connie) Schaub of Glenville, PA, and 11 nieces and nephews. Ivy passed away at her home on Wednesday February 8, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents and son Dickie. Her family will gather from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. led by Pastor David Reed. She will be laid to rest in Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be directed to Eau Claire Community Church.
