Muriel's Obituary

Muriel’s life began on August 4, 1911 in Ashley, MI; the daughter of Robert and Alberta (Wood) Stevenson. She was a graduate of the former Emmanuel Missionary College (Andrews University) in Berrien Springs. Muriel was united in marriage to Alson Pusey on June 2, 1946 in Ashley. She was a teacher in Muskegon for many years. Muriel was devoted to her faith and as a young adult volunteered as a Bible worker doing evangelization for the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a volunteer for the Seventh Day Adventist Community Services, assisting people in their times of need. She was an active member of the Dowagiac Seventh Day Adventist Church where she promoted education through Vacation Bible School and Sunday school. Muriel was an avid birdwatcher and member of the Cass County Audubon Society. She was very interested in life and being involved with those close to her. She was a hobby photographer, avid gardener and loved to travel. She was always patient and kind. She always preferred to create things homemade for her family. Her loving family includes her children Karen (James) Mann of Spangle, WA, and Galen (Rita) Pusey of Dowagiac, grandchildren Lowell Mann, Larissa Mann, Sabrina ( Steve) Riley, Erin (Terry) Payne, and Andrea Pusey, great grandchildren Emily Payne, Asher Riley, and Josiah Riley, her sister Laura Maxine Mosher of St. John’s and several nieces and nephews. Muriel passed away on Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles. She is preceded in death by her husband Alson in 2009, great grandson Caleb Payne, and a brother Harry Stevenson. Her family will gather with friends on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Ted Toms. She will be laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Dowagiac Seventh Day Adventist Education Fund.
