Eldora's Obituary

Eldora’s life began on September 20, 1924 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Ferdinand and Lena (Kern) Fester. She is a 1942 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. Eldora was united in marriage to Walter J. Urbanski on November 1, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dowagiac. Eldora worked as a bookkeeper for several area businesses including Dowagiac Milling Co. and for the family meat market. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and belonged to a German genealogy club in St. Joseph and the DANK in Sodus. She is survived by her husband Walter of Dowagiac, and brother Edward (Nancy) Fester of Dowagiac, sister in law Barbara Fester of Dowagiac, her special lifelong best friend Alice Lee of Dowagiac and her best buddy Bob Sestric, who always brought her flowers. Eldora passed away on Monday December 5, 2011 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by brothers Vernon and William Fester. Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church led by Pastor Jeffrey Weber. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Cass County Medical Care Facility.
