Harold's Obituary
Bud’s life began on October 1, 1924 in Buckley, IL, the son of Julius and Louise (Dipple) Steinman. He was a graduate of Cassopolis High School. Bud served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Nadine Keen on May 26, 1945 in Angola, IN. Bud was the owner/operator of the Steinman Shell station in Dowagiac for 54 years. He was a life member of the Dowagiac Conservation Club and an avid hunter. He enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting. Bud worked most of his life seven days a week and was dedicated to his family. His loving family includes his children Gregory (Carla) Steinman, Tym (Gina) Steinman and Tina (John) Behnke, all of Dowagiac, grandchildren Jill(Bill) Cook of Illinois, Jennifer (Evan) Brownie of Novi, Angie (Jason) Merrill of Dowagiac, Deryk (Amy) Steinman of Dowagiac, Jason Steinman of East Lansing, Matthew Behnke and Nathan Behnke, both of Dowagiac, great grandchildren Alyssa and Kelsey Crocker, Keegan and Jemma Cook and Hunter Steinman, sister Melba Mohney of Three Rivers and brother Jack (Lois) Steinman of Cassopolis. Bud passed away on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife Nadine in 1998, sisters Isabelle Hadaway, Opal Feibie and Gladys Metzger. His family will gather with friends on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday led by Chaplain Terry Perkins. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Dowagiac Conservation Club.
