Alice Konkey

Alice's life began on February 9, 1940 in Chicago, the daughter of Bernie and Marion Hau. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Konkey on September 14, 1968 in Niles. Alice worked as a bank manager and loan office for Chemical Bank for many years in South Haven and Buchanan. She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sister Lakes, serving as church secretary for 15 years and active in the ladies guild. She was a volunteer with the Beckwith Theatre in Dowagiac. Alice loved to be on the go, whether it was going on cruises or just out for the day with her friends, she enjoyed it all. Her loving family includes her son John Konkey of Buchanan, daughter Sandra (Michael) Bair of Niles, grandchildren Jason Bair of Niles, Jennifer (Spencer) Towns of Niles, Rachael Miller of Elkhart and Raina (Daryl) Roberts of Elkhart, great grandchildren Autumn Bair, Jonathan and Sierra Nunley, Alyssa Roberts, Devon Miller, Shyna Roberts and Shaina Roberts, sisters Rita (Russ) Mason of Culver, Cathy (Brian) Woerner of West Virginia, and Joan Hau of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. Alice passed away at her home on August 12, 2011. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1991 and daughter Patricia Miller in 1985. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where a Rosary service will be led by Deacon Frank Wesolowski at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church led by Father Maurice Kissane. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Sacred Heart of Mary Ladies Guild.
