Mary's Obituary
Mary's life began on June 15, 1922 in Chicago, the daughter of Frederick and Bessie (Burnett) Sievert. She was a graduate of the Chicago Christian High School. For over 30 years, Mary worked as a legal secretary for attorney John Pendergrass. She was a member of the Federated Covenant Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Pegarette's Club. She had been a member of the area Business and Professional Women Association. Mary was united in marriage three times during her life, first to Robert Lindell, then to Paul Piper, and finally to Lisle Borders. Her loving family includes her children Pauline ( Daniel) Meier of Muskegon, Linda (James) Plangger of Eau Claire, and Guy ( Marti) Piper, step daughters Kathy Borders of Milwaukee, Barb Powers of Kalamazoo and Debbie Gunderson of Scottville, grandchildren Sandra, Thomas, Joseph, Kathy and Connie, eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, and sister Judith (Larry) Schinske of North Carolina. Mary passed away on Sunday July 24, 2011 at her home. She is preceded in death by her brother Harold Sievert. Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the Federated Covenant Church in Dowagiac where her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. led by Pastors Rob and Jen Lowe. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Hospice at Home, the American Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice.
