Helen Garrelts

Helen's life began on April 16, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Robert and Marvel Mae (Thompson) Bell. She was united in marriage to Arnold E. Garrelts on June 13, 1942 in Douglas, MI. Helen was a homemaker and cared for her family which includes her children Arnold “Spud” (Barbara) Garrelts of Dowagiac, Kay (Glen Richardson) Syx of Dowagiac, Sharon (George) Cairns of Dowagiac, David Garrelts of Richmond, KY, and Alan (Patricia Wirick) Garrelts of Dowagiac, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Helen passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at the Timbers of Cass County. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robert Bell, Jr. Her family will gather with friends on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. led by Minister Justin Shepard of Michiana Church of Christ. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Lymphoma Foundation for Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma research.
