Alice May Shante

Alice went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2011 at the age of 91. She had resided in Centralia, Washington for a number of years. Born June 5, 1919 to C.J. and Esther (Thompson) Olsen in Muskegon, Michigan. Her marriage to Milton Shante took place on June 29, 1940 in Muskegon. He preceded her in death in 1984. Alice leaves behind two daughters, Sharrie Shante of Curtis, Washington and Judy Bussler of Dowagiac. She leaves 5 grandchildren: Lori Chabitch of Rochester, Wa., Jeanie Bussler, James (Kristie) Bussler, and George Bussler of Dowagiac and Mark Bussler of Bellevue, Nebraska. Along with 15 great grandchildren: Andrew and Matthew Bussler, Megan, Joshua, Rachel, Brittney Baker, and Sarah Hill, Joy, Mark, Haylee, Alicia, Natalie, Kalissa, Erica, and Bailey Bussler. Three great great grandchildren: Tamyra, Sophie, and Gabriella. Two Brothers, Robert Olsen and Robert Rydell preceded her. She leaves two sisters, Margaret (Mick) Hailey of England, and Ruth Tolliver of Olney, Illinois as well as one brother Ernest (Roberta) Olsen of Nampa, Idaho, and her sister-in-law Arline Olsen of Arleta, Ca. Alice loved gardening, picking and freezing fresh fruit. She made many beautiful afghans. She was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles. Yazel-Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac. Cremation has taken place.
