Clare Kiggins

Clare's Obituary

Clare's life began on June 26, 1935 in Baroda, MI, the son of George E. and Nina H. (Hodley) Kiggins. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Manchester and continued his service in the United States Naval Reserves for a total of 18 years service. Clare was a cabinet maker at Jessup Door Company for many years and loved woodworking and making furniture for his family. He was also a very good mechanic and could fix anything. He was united in marriage to the former Ginger Carpenter on August 7, 1971 in Dowagiac. His loving family includes his wife Ginger of Dowagiac, sons Edward Kiggins, Mathew (Angela) Kiggins, and Keith Kiggins, all of Dowagiac, Kenneth (Kristine) Kiggins of Muncie, IN and a daughter Bethany Carper of Mattawan, 12 grandchildren and a brother Elmer “Robert” Kiggins of Oregon City, OR. Clare passed away on Saturday April 23, 2011 at The Timbers of Cass County. He is preceded in death by his parents. His family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 11a.m. -1 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. led by Bishop Tommy Reels of the New Life Community Church. Clare will be laid to rest with Naval Honors in Sacred Heart (Silver Creek) Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the family in care of Ginger Kiggins.
