Mary's Obituary
Mary's life began on October 18, 1922 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Frederick and Grace (Cunningham) Hoffman. She is a graduate of Big Rapids High School. Mary was united in marriage to Franklin C. Weld on July 16, 1948 in Big Rapids. She was a homemaker and worked as a crossing guard for Dowagiac Schools. Mary was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 263 in Dowagiac. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Joyce (Jim) Hoyt of Niles, Dale Weld of Dowagiac, and Rodney Weld of Edwardsburg, four grandchildren Thomas (Rebecca) Hoyt of Buchanan, Heather Hoyt of Niles, Danielle Weld of Leicester, England, and Katherine (Nicholas) Kapuza of Chicago and one great grandchild Julie Hoyt. Mary passed away on April 7, 2011 at Cass County Medical Care Center. She is preceded in death by her husband Franklin in 1991, two sisters and seven brothers. Her family will gather with friends on Saturday April 30th at 2 p.m. for her memorial service at Yazel & Clark Chapel led by Pastor John Kasper of the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church. Memorial rites will be rendered by the Order of the Eastern Star following the service. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
