Helen Grames

Helen's life began on February 22, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Francis (Kopaceski) Kafka. She was united in marriage to Ardyn Grames, who preceded her in death in 1973. Helen worked as a diversional therapist at the Dowagiac Nursing Home for many years. Her loving family includes her children Sue Ellen Grames-Bishop of Dowagiac, and Debbie (Scott) Marshall of Cassopolis, grandchildren Tammy Grahl, Randy Armstrong, and Jamie Armstrong, great grandchildren Kristen Armstrong, Ashley Grahl, Chelsea Grahl, Dillon Armstrong and Lynzee Armstrong, sisters Polly Wojtysiak of South Bend, Alice Lekarczyk of Dowagiac, Jeanie (Joe) Schonbok of Dowagiac, and Francis Kraus of Chicago and brother Edward (Annie) Kafka of Coloma. Helen passed away on Saturday April 9, 2011 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward, son Bill Grames in 2009, and sisters Ann Lemanski and Stella Edwards. Helen's family will receive friends on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis following the service.
