Edward's Obituary

Ed's life began on June 21, 1944 in Braskal, Germany, the son of Hipolit and Lydia (Sackwell) Kuriata. He immigrated to the United States in 1949, residing in Louisiana for a year and then settled in Dowagiac in 1950 and has resided there ever since. He graduated from Dowagiac High School and served in the National Guard for six years. He was employed by Jessup Door Company then Creative Foam. He was very dedicated to his job. He loved to bowl, fish, golf, and play cards. He was very competitive with his siblings and a major animal lover. He was an active member of the Dowagiac Moose and Dowagiac Eagles. He was a good brother, and favored uncle to his nieces and nephews. Ed is survived by his brothers Walter and John (Maureen) Kuriata, both of Dowagiac and several nieces and nephews. Ed was called home by his Lord on Thursday March 3, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Daniel and Ted Kuriata and sister Marie Mennite. His family will gather with friends on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where a rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m. led by Father Kevin Covert. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Covert on Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
