Jimmie's Obituary
Jim's life began on June 28, 1942 in Terra Haute, IN, the son of Lamont E. and Mary Jane (Clouse) Grant. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 until 1966, leaving the service at an E-5 Staff Sergeant. Jim worked 28 years as a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines. He was active in the local veteran's Honor Guard for many years and was very proud of his service with the Honor Guard. Jim enjoyed the many cook outs with his family and setting on his back deck watching the world go by. He loved to play music and sing. Jim had a band many years ago called Jimmie Grant and the Unpredictable's that travelled overseas to entertain. He was united in marriage to the former Darlene Etter in June of 2004 at the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Darlene Grant of Dowagiac, his children Jimmie Grant, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Colleen Pasetto of Tempe, AZ, Juanita M. Pecot of Wichita Falls, TX, Joe Grant of Dowagiac and Michelle Grant of Marshall, IL, stepchildren Shannon Madison of Decatur, Dawn Cook of Jones, and Eric Cook of Cassopolis, 22 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sisters Carol (Larry) Melton and Linda White-Grant, both of Dowagiac, brothers Bill Grant and Bob (Cathy) Grant, both of Dowagiac, and several nieces and nephews. Jim passed away on Sunday February 13, 2011 at his home. He is preceded in death by sisters Marla Miller and Sharon Fuller and brothers Jerry and Les Grant. His family will gather with friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service with military honors will be held at 7 p.m. Jim will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in Jim's name may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Please sign his guestbook and leave a memory of Jim at www.yazel-clark.com.
