Flossie's Obituary

Flossie's life began on September 18, 1926 in Twelve Mile, IN, the daughter of Harry A. and Edna ( Irvin) Welling. She was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School. She was united in marriage to George Emmons in 1951 in Michigan City. Flossie worked as an inspector for Contech in Dowagiac for 32 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 263 in Dowagiac and loved to sew, crochet, make jewelry and paint ceramics. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her loving family includes her husband of 59 years George Emmons of Dowagiac, children Galen B. ( Karen) Johnson of Shell Point, Fl, Paul A. ( Paulette) Johnson of North Liberty, IN, and Randy L.( Donna) Emmons of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren Joshua (Aeron) Johnson of Smyrna, TN, Christopher Johnson of Palatine, IL, Karianne (Doug) Stephen of Eaton Rapids, MI, Jackie (Tabor) Franco of South Bend, Jason and Tiffany Emmons of Wagoner, Ok; great grandchildren Tyler Johnson, Aden Johnson, Rylee Johnson, Leah Rene Stephen, Anna Stephen, and Justice Franco; nine nieces and nephews, sister in laws Frances Heim, Donna (Jack) Clark, Judy Welling and Iness Welling. Flossie passed away on December 11, 2010 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Frances Shives, and brothers Arthur Welling, Paul Welling and Leon (June) Welling. Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 12:30- 1 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Jon DenHouter of the First Christian Church in Dowagiac.
