Leonard's Obituary
Leonard's life began on March 16, 1916 in Marcellus, MI, the son of Eben and Hazel (Griffith) Hall. He was a 1934 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. He turned down several basketball scholarships to marry his first wife. Leonard served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Elsie Abrams in 1935 and then later married to Anna Turk Adams in 1990 in Paw Paw. Leonard was an entrepreneur, having run several successful businesses. He began his career at James Heddon and Sons in Dowagiac, he owned and operated the Coffee Pot Restaurant in Marshall, later he moved to Texas where he owned a door opener company and then relocated to Phoenix to pursue the same business. He worked at Ronan and Kuzel and Pittsburg Paint and Glass. He was a life member of VFW Post # 1855, the Dowagiac Moose and Eagles. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He is survived by his wife Anna Hall of Lawton, children Joan ( Ralph) Shedd of Hemet, CA, Sherry Hall of Battle Creek, stepsons Al (Charlotte) Adams of Mattawan, and Phil Adams of Kalamazoo, six grandchildren and five step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and seven step great great grandchildren. Leonard passed away on Thursday December 9, 2010 at White Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, two sisters and one brother. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. led by Reverend Mark Whittaker of Trinity Lutheran Church.
