Jay's Obituary

Jay's life began on August 1, 1934 in Chicago, the son of John and Henrietta (Buikema) Rusthoven. He was united in marriage to the former Bernice Schuttinga on March 25, 1955 in Highland, IN. Jay was a self employed refuse and disposal hauler. He was a member of the 1st Reformed Church of Decatur, MI. He is survived by his wife Bernice Rusthoven of Sister Lakes, Sherrie (Terry) Swisher of Dowagiac, and Randy Rusthoven of Whiting, IN, three grandchildren Janelle (Jared) Sievert, Brent ( Melanie Seifferlein) Swisher and Shawn Swisher. Jay passed away on Thursday September 23, 2010 at the Cass County Medical Care Center. He is preceded in death by a son Ricky Rusthoven in 1994. His family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. (Michigan time) at the 1st Reformed Church of Decatur where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. (Michigan time) led by Pastor Mark Hofstra. He will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery, Highland, IN at 3 p.m. (Indiana time) on Monday. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed the 1st Reformed Church.
