Terry's Obituary
Terry's life began on December 4, 1947 in Dowagiac, the son of Charles Burton and Lila (Gross) Dodd. He was a 1966 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. Terry was united in marriage to the former Sundae Carpenter in 1970. He was employed by Jessup Door Company for many years and retired from National Standard Company. Terry served his community for 35 years as a member of the Dowagiac Fire Department and was currently serving as a lieutenant in the department. In his leisure time, Terry was an avid fisherman, who also loved to hunt and work on his lawn and garden. His loving family includes his wife Sundae Dodd of Dowagiac, his children Debra ( Jerry) Zachary, Brenda (Randy) Diamond, Charles (Tracey) Rossow, Suzanne ( Billy) Cook, and Burton (Shelly) Dodd, all of Dowagiac, grandchildren Brandon Zachary, Lynne Zachary, Daniea'l Diamond, Brooks Diamond, Nathan Diamond, Tony Green, Nicholas Rossow, Jacob Rossow, Nanah Davis, Elizabeth Aranda, Austin Cook, Abigail Cook, Taylor Dodd and Terry Dodd and great grandchildren Maya Smith, Calvin Diamond, Matthew Davis and Xander Davis, sisters Darlene Dodd of Oregon, and Pat Hagerman of Dowagiac, brothers Jim (Judy) Dodd of Dowagiac, Leon (Joann) Dodd of Dowagiac, and Larry Dodd of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. Terry passed away on Friday September 3, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He is preceded in death by sisters Marilyn Thielmann, and Charlene Clark and brothers Tom Dodd and Charles Dodd. Terry's family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Robert Vickroy. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with full fire department honors. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
