Robert's Obituary

Robert's life began on May 2, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Jules H. and Mary G. (Weese) Rohdy. He attended school in Traverse City. Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Donna Jones in 1954 and she preceded him in death. Robert worked for the Traverse City Public Schools and later for Parts Manufacturing. Upon arriving in Dowagiac, he worked for Sealed Power/SPX Corporation/Contech. He is a member of the Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church. His loving family includes his partner Kirk Rohner of Paw Paw, children Douglas (Elaine) Rohdy of Cassopolis, Tim (Sandy) Rohdy of Mishawaka, Michael (Lisa) Rohdy of Port St. John, Florida, Chris ( Paula) Rohdy of Dowagiac and stepdaughter Marie Riste of Beverton, MI; grandchildren Matt (Kimmy) Rohdy, McKenzie (Matt) Bronsink, Jeremy Rohdy, Nathan Rohdy, Adrienne Holbert, Andy (Valerie) Lester, Candita Weber, Brian Rohdy, Jennifer Rohdy, Dustin Rohdy and Jake Rohdy; 10 great-grandchildren, brothers Gene (Vera) Rohdy of Florida, Don (Sharon) Rohdy of Interlochen, Fred (Sue) Rohdy of Traverse City; sisters Marilyn (Hollis) Brown of Traverse City, Arlene Kirsch of Traverse City, Caryol (Lennard) Lautner of Traverse City, Barbara (Lon) DeNeff of Traverse City, and Pat (Bill) Wurm of Traverse City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers Howard, Richard and George Rohdy and sisters Fern Batten & Mary Rau. Robert passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at his home. His family will gather with friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Yazel & Clark Chapel in Dowagiac and from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 AM Monday at the church preceding the service. His funeral service celebrating his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church, 425 S. Nursery St., with Pastor Roger L. Andrews officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles following cremation. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
