John's Obituary

John's life began on April 2, 1952 in Niles, the son of Joseph and Alice (Hill) Karchunas. He was a 1970 graduate of Eau Claire High School and a graduate of Southwestern Michigan College. John was employed by Clark Equipment for 17 years and by Modineer Corporation for ten years. He loved tending to his flower garden and landscaping. John was an avid golfer and loved sports, especially Notre Dame Athletics. He spent much of his time following the events of his nieces and nephews lives and enjoying all of it. John had a strong work ethic and was a hard worker at all he did. His loving family include his sister Michelle Krauchunas of Dowagiac, brothers Joe (Suzanne) Karchunas of Belding, Richard (Nancy) Karchunas of Fort Myers, FL, and Robert Karchunas of Dowagiac, nieces and nephews Troy Stover, Kaitlynn Stover, Scott (Lisa) Karchunas, Susan (Chad) Smith and Melissa ( Frank) Schranz and step father Guy Kizer of Niles. John passed away on Monday July 5, 2010 at his sister's home. He is preceded in death by his parents. His family will gather with friends on Thursday from 1 -2 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Lee Reels of the Lacota General Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Hospice at Home.
